Better bloggers than I have or will write about the potential consequences of the pending UN small arms treaty, to US citizens.
What isn't as widely thought of is how much this will enable majorities of countries to repress and slaughter people who they don't like. If minority populations are unable to acquire arms to defend themselves against repression and genocide then there is nothing to protect them from things like this.
A few crates of Mosin-Nagant rifles and a few cans of ammo would have done more to prevent the Rawanda religious genocide against Christians than fifty hollywood black-tie fund raisers.
