I absolutely agree with #4 as a former DM.For a while I had a T-shirt that read Games Operations Director. And a button that said "If the DMs smiling, it's waaaay too late!"IIRC the last gaming I did was in grad school where I ran an Aliens in AD&D adventure. Essentially, you could be any (reasonably) humanoid race.
There is nothing in the world more terrifying than realizing the DM isn't maniacally laughing as part of any dialog.
