Like so many things, the advancement in graphics and tech in Anime is so interesting; how it developed. I can recall early Anime on the Chans. Like "early" Homer Simpson compared to "digital" Homer. The linked story to the arson fire is saddening. I suppose fire suppression codes are lenient, or maybe even overlooked.
No this was a case of someone suicide firebombing the place, possibly after disabling exits. Truly homicidal arson gets scary in a hurry, especially for how easy it is to do.
We lost some of our favorite artist yesterday. That was the studio that made "Haruhi Suzumiya" "Sound Euphonium" "Girls und Panzer" and dozens and dozens of others over the last 25 years. The Japanese government refuses to release the names. But many of the people I communicate with in Japan, tell me this may be a blow to the Anime and manga industry that it cannot overcome. Many of those lost to this madman were the top talent in the world of anime. I'm actually glad that Japan still uses the rope. ---Ray Sorry about my spelling errors.
The Studio One fire was isolated to one "working group" building. The company uses several different buildings scattered around Tokyo. This is still a horrid tragedy. But it will have limited impact on the industry as most of the 33 victims were Jr. employees, new to the industry. This is still an unforgivable act. But the show(s) will go on.---Ray

DeleteThat IS homicidal arson. On a grand scale.

ReplyDeleteDon't sweat the spelling errors, I'd heard a few titles involved, but not those. Sad day.
