Before EVERYBODY gets onto the Zerohedge or Tucker conspiracy train, Hanlon's Razor and Lawdog would like a word.
In my experience when anything involving energy-industry hydrocarbons explodes … well, sabotage isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. And honestly, when it comes to a pipeline running natural gas under Russian (non)maintenance, an explosion means that it’s Tuesday. Or Friday. Or another day of the week ending in “y”.
“But, LawDog,” I hear you say, “It was multiple explosions!”
Yes, 17 hours apart. No military is going to arrange for two pipes in the same general area to be destroyed 17 hours apart. Not without some Spec Ops guy having a fit of apoplexy. One pipe goes up in a busy shipping lane, in a busy sea, and everyone takes notice. Then you wait 17 hours to do the second — with 17 hours for people to show up and catch you running dirty? Nah, not buying it.
Please go there, and read the whole thing before any conclusions you've made solidify in your mind.
Back to your regularly scheduled cheesecake soon.
Nowadays with the high technology of timers, explosions 17 hours apart are indeed feasible. [sarcasm switch off!]
ReplyDeleteOkay, no conspiracy theories. But the only people in the worls who expressed any foreknowledge at all of a nord stream disruption was Joe Biden and Victoria Nuland.
ReplyDeleteAccident or incompetence? Quite possible. Sabotage? Just as possible. The only thing we can count on is the public will never know for sure what happened. Even if they tell us the truth they have lied so often they are no longer even remotely credible.
ReplyDeleteThe seismologists know how to distinguish man-made explosives from natural ones. Very different characteristics. So I call BS on Lawdog and his brethern. And how hard would it be to set charges to go off at different times, long after those who set the charges were long gone? Nobody would know where to those charges were set, in order to "show up." Some people will really bend reality in order to avoid unpleasant conclusions. Their objections leave holes large enough to steer a supertanker through.
ReplyDeleteSweden found a drone packed with explosives next to the pipeline in 2015. The control cable had been severed and the vehicle was dormant on the sea floor. This is clearly a plausible scenario that someone had practiced already.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for the Russians, in retaliation, to cut the USA internet from europe, asia, and Africa. No downside.
