My $0.02 on the SCOTUS confirmation dirty pool is that the primary purpose isn't to derail the nomination (they'd love to manage that if it happened anyway though), the primary purpose is to muddy the waters enough for the Democrats in states that Trump won handily to "reasonably" and "principally" vote NO so that their base doesn't abandon them come the election.
