"Emotionally Scared" is an interesting way to describe a serial killer. She is portrayed as deriving orgasmic pleasure from violence, murder, and risk taking, and display's a state near depression when not killing. Several times in the manga she is revealed by others to be a well known sexual sadist. With a history of working in S&M shows. But it is Her affect when killing the boat load of Neo-Nazi's, that is the most telling. It is the moment in both the Anime and the manga when the audience first sees the "real" Revy as the monster she is become. Her near constant death seeking and lust for ever greater stimulation, with a total disregard to life, both her own and everyone else's, signal a tragic end for both Revy and for the manga.--Ray
I was just thinking that the occasional flash to her "First Kill" alludes to a history of childhood sexual abuse. This isn't an excuse, but it does serve as an explanation.
Childhood sex abuse does not tend to make girls into killers. It tends to make them into whores. When the character makes her first kill she falls in live with the "rush". But in real life she would have exhibited primary psychopathy long before that.--Ray
Ah yes! Fan art of Revey abusing Rock. Looks like I'm not the only one that thinks violence is her idea of forplay.--Ray
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it's so much foreplay as an individual so emotionally scared that the spinal reflex to feeling affection is violence.
