Thought of the Moment

"The target of the Jihad was a machine-attitude as much as the machines," Leto said. "Humans had set those machines to usurp our sense of beauty, our necessary selfdom out of which we make living judgments. Naturally, the machines were destroyed." -Leto II, God Emperor of Dune
One has to reflect how much nowadays people don't so much lose their sense of selfdom as cast it away with both hands to flee to an unthinking group.

Also something amusing for those who are reading this in the morning.

  1. DUNE! LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!! The spice must flow! The Bene Geseret The only training academy in the known universe to combine a whore house with super assassin high priestesses. I carry a big knife, dress funny and am drug dependent for survival, and have a bad attitude. Does that make me a fremen? NOPE NOPE just the cancer. BTW As you can tell from my spelling its treatment week. ONLY two more to go. Thanks for the 2D cuties!---Ray

  2. So I get diagnosed in Jan.2008 with an ultra rare, SUPER aggressive, (X10 growth factor) head and neck cancer. The ONLY way to kill it turns out to be surgery. Its back in 2010. So the head of radiation says. OK, If you are game to try it. I'm gonna nuke you until we can use your teeth as a flashlight. Six weeks an 180lb. later they stop treatment because of "acute radiation sickness" and tell my wife to plan my funeral. When I didn't die after six more weeks they did a full body CT and pronounced me "cancer free". In march of this year I collapsed walking the dog when my right lung collapsed. When they did the chest X-ray they found a 37MM tumor in my left lung and a plural effusion masking my right (the reason it collapsed) I asked the Doctor if my cancer was back, and he said "That's impossible after ten years cancer free". My biopsy showed that it was the SAME genetic finger print. I am to the best of my knowledge and belief the only known ten year survivor of this mutant. There were about 500 of us ten years ago but I'm the last. I have run out of treatment options and am fighting with caropatum (spell?) and a JUST approved imuno therapy drug. Its so new that I AM establishing the treatment protocalls--lucky me. So that's my Si Fi story. If I die and find myself on Arackis. I'm calling the damn worm. I'll kick his ass and ride. Or maybe just drink the water of life and kick Leto's ass---Ray

  4. Oh! BTW. They told me in march that I was terminal with about 60 to 90 days. Nothing I could do about that. As of my last CT I "Have a 50 to 75% reduction in tumor mass with significant tumor necrosis and an almost total reduction in plural fluid" IOW I'm still in the fight--and winning--Ray
