It's Hard Out There for a Pimp, Rapist, Mugger, Robber, or Murderer

Could it be that John Locke was right? When crime rates started falling about the same time that the RKBA movement was getting more and more states switched from "may issue" to "shall issue" concealed carry permits the self appointed elite claimed that it was only the economic prosperity and low unemployment of the 90's and 00's that produced this reduction in violent crime. They claimed that as soon as more people were out of work and desperate crime would spike. Besides this being a hidious slandering generalization of the unemployed, it seems to be on track to being proved wrong in the last few years. Others would claim through grinding teeth that the higher rate of imprisoning violent and repeat felons was responsible, they would then launch into a lengthy and contrived argument about why we shouldn't be doing it. However even as cash strapped states and municipalities are having to imprison fewer people violent crime still isn't rising as even many WarondrugHawks would have us believe.

So what statistic has gone up as violent crime has fallen in the last two decades? Gun ownership

Nationwide, the crime rate has declined 13.9 percent from 469 incidents per 100,000 individuals in 2005 to 403.6 in 2010. In fact, 2010 was the fourth year in a row crime has declined in the U.S.

Your random opportunistic criminal can no longer seperate the sheep from the Pyrénées.

We all know from Looney Tunes how this mistake ends, even the criminals do.

Which means that even your average meth-head is smarter than the Brady-bunch. So to quote many better bloggers than myself, "We're winning."
