At close range the killing power of the 12Ga. pump shotgun is second to none. I have been shooting now for +50 years and have carried and shot most military small arms and more civilian weapons than I can count. IMO At "indoor" room clearing range the 12 has no peer. At "contact" range (4 feet or less) it makes a hole you can see street lights on the other side of using heavy buck shot or slugs. Basically it is 9 30:06 bullets hitting the same spot at the same moment. THATS how much energy it dumps into flesh at PB ranges. BUT: the short shotgun is a short range weapon. If the target is more than 12 to 15 yards away then the AR/AK becomes the superior killer. --Ray

ReplyDeleteI'm not particular to shot guns myself, but I certainly don't knock what they can do.
